Last Night

Last night I go up to the room and usually the room is packed with students. Don't get me wrong I am not saying we have a huge student ministry, but God has blessed us to where we need larger facilities just to be comfortable. Not last night though. Last night we probably had the worst attendance ever. Usually I get upset if our attendance is down, but not last night.

Last night I was able to speak from my heart and I realized I would rather have 10 students who are on FIRE for Jesus then a group of 50 who could care less. I was able to share my heart with these students and encourage them and challenge them to love God more.

The Bible says in 1 Peter 2 that if you live your life depending on the cornerstone which is Jesus that you will never be dissappointed (My translation). When I was reading that it made me realize that no matter how many students come if my foundation is on Jesus, that I will never be dissappointed.

I had a student text me last night at 10:30. He just got saved at an activity this last weekend. His text said this, "Trent when you were talking tonight it made me realize how much I am thankful for my friends who brought me to church and how much more I want to know God. Could you teach me more about God, I WANT TO LEARN." Now that is what it is all about. Here is a student who wants to be on fire for Jesus.

Youth of Tomorrow's Church?

I was reading a blog just now and it just blew me away because in my opinion it is so true. I think our culture sets really low standards for our youth that they have become lazy. Here is the problem: God didn't call us to be lazy. God has called us to work our butts off to grow His kingdom and we have lost that mindset in our culture. It is no longer work our butts off, but maybe try a little harder and I emphasize maybe meaning if we feel like it.

AND…I HATE IT when people say, “the youth/children are the church of tomorrow.” BULL CRAP…they are the church of TODAY!!! One of the reasons the church is losing them in droves is because we think they will be there “tomorrow” for us to reach…but the time is NOW!!!

I am also thankful for a Lead Pastor who cares about students. I see a lot of lead pastors that would rather their youth dude wear a suit and tie rather then seeing students come to Jesus and that is a problem. I am also thankful for my church because it allows me the priviledge to work with some awesome youth. Students who love Jesus and want to make a difference now and realizing that now is the time.

Twins

So I just found out today that my brother is having twins. I have known for a month or so that they were prego, but today they went in to get the pictures of their baby (or at least that is what they thought at the time) until the doctor came out and said I have got good news and bad news. Good news: The baby looks healthy, Bad News: You are going to have to change double the diapers.

For a month or so it was cool to know I was going to be an uncle, but today it just made it become a reality. Now there is actual proof through the ultrasound. Before I had nothing to go by, but today there are pictures.

For things to become a reality there needs to be proof. I work with Jr High students and I love them to death, but I know when I was in Jr High that I was as fake as our Christmas tree. Sure I believed in Jesus, but there was no proof to show of it. So my question is what is your proof?

Want Help?

I started reading through Isaiah yesterday and it just really hit me in chapter 1 verse 19. God says "If you will obey me and let me help you."

This was so powerful to me because God wants to help us. It is incredible to me that God wants to help me. I think there are all these other people who have bigger problems and bigger issues, but God wants to help me.

I think a major problem is that people want to get through their problems and deal with their issues by themselves, but God says let me help you.

So for those people are getting evicted from their home... God wants to help.

For that teenager who is always fighting with their parents... God wants to help.

For that person who is struggling with their relationships... God wants to help.
